Thanington Park

Thanington Park was granted outline planning permission by Canterbury City Council’s Planning Committee on 5th January 2016.

Pentland Properties Managing Director, Martin Hart said;

“It is not only a great result for Pentland Properties but also for Canterbury City Council and Canterbury residents. Thanington Park not only helps plug the gap in the City Council’s housing supply with its Local Plan but also in the city council’s infrastructure funding.

Thanington Park brings significant benefits to the community which is why we have received support from businesses, community groups and residents.

Thanington will benefit from a brand new state of the art hospice for Pilgrims Hospices, a new business park, an expanded Park and Ride, new offslip, a primary school and new community facilities.

We will of course continue to engage with local groups throughout and look forward to providing Canterbury residents with good quality homes”.

Thanington Park will be developed in phases with detailed applications being submitted over the next few years dealing with the design aspects of the scheme.

The Tory Family

The Tory Family Foundation is a registered charity established in 1974 which makes yearly donations for charitable purposes and has distributed in excess of two million pounds.

When the trustees heard about the problems with the existing Canterbury Hospice they believed that they might be able to help.

The Tory family and their companies have owned land for many years with building potential at Thanington. The Trustees felt that this presented an opportunity to provide a replacement site for a new Hospice if planning is granted.

Pilgrims Hospice Pilgrims Hospices is a charity providing free specialist care to patients and families across east Kent. Our vision for hospice care is that everyone should have access to the services they need to cope with illness that cannot be cured and make the most of the time they have.
